The checks that we do are mandated by your school, may be different from school to school, and are often governed in full or part by state laws or medical assocation standards, such as those of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)

Because the requirements are different from school to school, you must start by entering your school's code which we use to determine the appropriate checks to run. If you do not have a code, please contact your registrar's office or contact us.

WHAT WE DO

The checks that we perform are mandated by your school and vary from school to school. They generally include criminal background checks and sex offender, adult abuse, or medical sanctions database searches.

Once the search is complete, we send identical copies of our findings to you and to the appropriate department at your school.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

Our investigation of your background can take anywhere from 48 hours to several weeks.

The US court records system is highly varied from state to state and is usually not centralized. In order to research your criminal history, we first research you to find the locations where you have lived. With these locations, we find the courthouses (usually county our state courts) which house court records for the courts with jurisdictions in these areas.

We then dispatch court runners to the county seat or state courthouse in each of these locations. Most locations have a computerized index at which the court runners can search for criminal records by name. This creates a list of possible criminal records, but the researcher doesn't yet know whether they're you or someone who shares your name.

The next step in the process is to request the actual court records for all court cases the researcher found in the index. Some courthouses house these records onsite and can provide them to the runner while he's there. Other courthouses must order the records from an archive site which generally delivers the records to the courthouse in 1-3 days.

Once the researcher has these records, he compares your identifying information (usually your date of birth and/or SSN) to that on the court records. All records for other individuals are discarded, and any remaining records are reported to you and your school.
